Organising a concert, comedy show, workshop, performance or local event and want to sell tickets online without building your own ecommerce website? JustPayFor lets you create an event, sell tickets, accept payments and manage guest entry using one system.
There is an important distinction when it comes to costs. JustPayFor does not charge its own percentage commission on the value of tickets sold or add its own service fee to each ticket. The actual payment is still processed by the payment provider connected to the organiser's account, so the provider's transaction charges may apply.
This means an organiser can use JustPayFor as the sales layer for an event without building a complete ecommerce system or buying specialist ticket scanners simply to manage admission.
How does online ticket selling work with JustPayFor?
-
Create your event
Add the event information and configure the tickets, prices and sales structure you need.
-
The customer buys a ticket
The attendee chooses a ticket, provides the required details and continues to payment through your connected provider.
-
Manage entry on the day
The attendee receives their ticket, which can later be checked at the entrance using its QR code or unique ticket code.
Do you need your own online shop to sell tickets?
No. This is one of the situations where JustPayFor can be particularly useful for independent organisers, performers, venues and community organisations.
You do not need to build a complete online shop simply to sell tickets for a few events each month.
Create the event in JustPayFor, prepare the available tickets and then share the event sales page with your audience.
You can learn more about the feature on our Online Ticket Sales page.
What types of events can use JustPayFor?
Comedy and live performances
Sell tickets for individual shows or a regular series of live events.
Concerts
Create the event, open online sales and manage attendee tickets at the entrance.
Arts and community venues
Manage tickets for several events and present current events from one organiser page.
Workshops and training
Sell places for workshops, classes, courses, training sessions and educational events.
Theatre and shows
Prepare ticket sales for venues where tickets need to include section or row information.
Local events
Manage talks, conferences, community events, presentations and other ticketed activities.
How much does it cost to sell tickets?
Ticketing costs become particularly important when you sell a larger number of tickets or organise events regularly.
JustPayFor percentage fee on ticket value
JustPayFor does not charge its own percentage commission on ticket sales or add its own service fee to each ticket.
Transaction processing
The cost of processing the actual payment depends on the pricing and terms of the provider connected to the organiser's account.
So when we refer to selling tickets without JustPayFor commission, we mean there is no additional percentage fee charged by JustPayFor on the value of each ticket sold. Payment-provider charges may still apply.
What does the ticket-buying process look like for the customer?
The purchasing process is designed so that an attendee can move from choosing a ticket to payment without having to create a JustPayFor account.
-
Choose the event
The customer opens the event page and chooses the ticket they want.
-
Provide the required details
They enter the information needed to prepare the order and issue the ticket.
-
Continue to payment
They choose from the payment methods available through the connected provider and complete the purchase.
Does the customer need to create an account?
No. An attendee does not need to create a JustPayFor account simply to purchase a ticket.
They can go through the purchasing process, provide the required information and continue to payment.
This is particularly useful when an event is promoted through social media, advertising, posters or a link shared by someone else and the customer wants to buy a ticket straight away.
Which payment methods can customers use?
JustPayFor prepares the ticket sale, while the actual payment transaction is handled by the payment provider connected to the organiser's account.
The payment methods available therefore depend on the provider, the market and the merchant-account configuration.
Depending on the provider, customers may be able to use cards, digital wallets, bank-based payments or other local and alternative payment methods.
Where does the ticket money go?
JustPayFor does not collect money from attendees and then pay it out to the event organiser later.
The transaction is processed by the payment provider connected to the seller's account, and the funds are settled according to the terms of the agreement between the organiser and that provider.
JustPayFor receives the information needed to manage the order and payment status, but does not hold the money from ticket sales.
QR tickets and unique ticket codes
Once the purchase has been completed, the attendee receives a ticket that can include a QR code and a unique ticket code.
The QR code can be used to check the ticket quickly at the entrance, while the text code provides an additional way to identify or verify the ticket when scanning is not practical.
This means organisers do not need to rely solely on printed attendee lists.
Do you need specialist ticket scanners?
No. You do not need to buy specialist hardware used only for scanning event tickets.
JustPayFor provides a ticket-checking app for compatible iPhone and iPad devices running iOS 17 or later.
Tickets can also be checked through a web browser, allowing organisers to choose the devices that best suit their team and event setup.
What about sections and rows?
Not every event uses general admission.
For theatres, performance venues, arts centres and other locations with structured seating, section and row information can help organise the ticketing process.
Section and row details can be included on the ticket, helping attendees identify where they should go and giving organisers a clearer way to structure sales.
One organiser page for all your events
If you run events regularly, an individual sales page for each event does not need to be the only way customers discover your tickets.
Current events can also be displayed on the organiser's business page in JustPayFor.
Customers can visit one place, browse available events and choose the one they are interested in.
This can be particularly useful for venues, community organisations, performers and organisers that sell tickets throughout the year.
Export ticket information to Excel
Running an event often involves work outside the ticket-sales dashboard as well.
JustPayFor allows ticket information to be exported to Excel. The exported file can be useful for:
- preparing attendee lists,
- analysing ticket sales,
- internal records,
- organising the team working at the event.
Example: a local comedy show for 150 people
Imagine you are organising a comedy night in a local venue with space for 150 guests.
-
Publish the event
Create the event, define the available ticket types and share the sales page.
-
Attendees buy online
Customers reach the event from social media, your website or a shared link and purchase their tickets online.
-
Check tickets at the entrance
On the day of the event, your team uses a phone or another available device to verify attendee tickets.
How do you start selling tickets with JustPayFor?
To start selling, you need a JustPayFor seller account and a suitably configured payment-provider account.
Once your account is ready, you can prepare the event, configure the available tickets and begin online sales.
There is no need to develop your own ticketing platform, build an online shop from scratch or invest in dedicated admission hardware simply to start selling event tickets.
Ticket sales and entry management are two different stages
It is useful to separate these two parts of running an event.
The first stage is promoting the event, selling the ticket and accepting payment. The second comes later, when attendees arrive and their tickets need to be checked.
If you are particularly interested in QR scanning, manual ticket-code verification and using several devices at the entrance, see our separate guide: “QR Tickets for Events: Online Sales and Fast Entry Checks”.
