A customer sees your product on Instagram, sends you a message and wants to buy it. You do not necessarily need to send them to a full online shop. Agree the order in the conversation, prepare the payment in JustPayFor and send the customer a ready-to-use link.
In this model, Instagram, Facebook or Messenger are used to find customers and agree the sale. The actual payment takes place through a JustPayFor page and the payment provider connected to your seller account.
How does social media selling work?
- 1.
The customer contacts you
They see a product, service or offer and send you a message.
- 2.
Agree the order
Confirm the product, service, quantity and final price.
- 3.
Send the payment
Prepare a payment link or Virtual Basket and send it in the conversation.
You do not need a full online shop just because you sell online
If you have hundreds of products and customers need to browse and build their own orders, a traditional ecommerce shop makes sense.
If most of your sales begin with a message, a question or a bespoke conversation, a simpler approach may be more appropriate.
Payment Link or Virtual Basket?
Payment Link
Ideal when you have agreed one final amount and the customer simply needs a direct route to payment.
Virtual Basket
Useful when the order contains several products or services and the customer should see each item.
Example: an Instagram order
You post a product priced at £35. A customer messages you to ask whether it is available.
You confirm the order, create a £35 payment and send the link in the same conversation.
If the customer chooses several different products, you can prepare a Virtual Basket instead and show them the full order breakdown.
What about made-to-order products?
Social media works particularly well for businesses where the final price depends on size, personalisation, specification or the amount of work involved.
Agree the details first and create the payment once the final price is known.
Does the customer pay inside Instagram or Messenger?
Not in this payment flow.
Instagram, Facebook or Messenger is used for the conversation and to share the link. The customer then opens the prepared page and continues to the actual payment process.
There is no need to ask customers to send card details through private messages.
Deposits for services sold through social media
If you sell a service or made-to-order product, you may not want to take the full payment immediately.
You can agree an advance amount and use Deposits and Bookings.
Taking social media sales offline with QR
A business promoted through social media may also meet customers at markets, exhibitions or events.
In that situation, Scan to Pay can give customers a simple way to open a payment on their own phone.
Does the customer need a JustPayFor account?
No. The customer can open the link you send them and continue to payment without creating their own JustPayFor account.
Where does the money go?
The actual transaction is processed by the payment provider connected to your seller account.
JustPayFor does not hold the sales revenue. Funds are settled according to your agreement with the payment provider.
How much does it cost?
monthly JustPayFor fee
JustPayFor does not charge a monthly subscription or its own percentage fee on each sale.
Transaction processing
Processing costs depend on the provider connected to your seller account.
